Fabian Young Garvey Findley
-Autobiography-

On Friday March 17, 1982, in the parish of St. Andrew Fabian Findley was born to parents Marcia Forbes and Winston Findley. He is the second child and only boy for his mother and second child for his father. At age three he attended a basic school in Duhaney Park where he was living at the time. His family then moved to Golden Road/Trench Town by the time he was of age for Duhaney Park Primary School. At primary school he was just an average child, he participated at the primary level in track and field for his school. Growing up as a child he used to sing songs in the bathroom and as such his mother and other family members was aware of his talent, however this was not known to the public until one christmas he performed at church and this was where everybody knew about his talent.
Life in Jamaica was cut short as he and his immediate family migrated to Yonkers New York. At age eleven his mother was in search of a better life for her kids and herself. In Yonkers New York he attended the Mark Twain Junior High School, where the love for music grew stronger and stronger watching guys singing hip hop, he used to beat the desk in the cafeteria and rap freestyle with his school mates. At this point he realised that music was his calling. He then then moved to Spring Valley, New York with his mother and sisters.
He was given the name Young Garvey by a friend because of his constant talks about uplifting black people. One day his friend said to him “ you talk as if you think you are Marcus Garvey” and he in return said “ yes I am, Young Garvey” and from that day the name Young Garvey stuck with him. At that time he was getting in trouble which led him to drop out of school in the tenth grade. By age 16 he was in the streets heading nowhere fast. His mother had to move away with his two sisters, leaving him to fend for himself because of the trouble he was getting himself into. At age 16 he was forced to be an adult as he became a father to a beautiful baby girl, name Aaliyah Findley, he said "she meant everything to me, she was one of my motivation in life as I knew I had to take care of her and I saw music as my way to".
By the age of 21 he was sent to prison, at the time of his sentencing he did not cry but after being in prison for about 2 years he was sitting in his cell reflecting on his family, friends and self when he came to the realisation that he never loved himself, then he started to cry cause he now realise that he didn't love his daughter, family, friends and most of all himself, all because he did not know himself. he said "when you love yourself and the people around you, you don't do things to jeopardise your life or your freedom". thats when he made the change. He started to read books, taught himself how to play the keyboard and started planning his life for the outside. thats when he fully became Young Garvey and Thats where One Nation Music was born. Right then and there he decided to use his life as an example for the youths of the world.
In 2007 he went back to his home land Jamaica with a plan and on a mission. He started his own record label One Nation Music with a close friend Deno Tingling. They produce songs for Capleton, Mr. G, Harry Toddler, Daville and many others, all featured on the Contagious rhythm produced by One Nation Music. He put out a mixtape with 30 tracks, that featured artist all over Jamaica and some outside of jamaica. It was produced by One Nation Music and hosted by DJ Kenny. He have been focussing a lot on producing and artist management/development and since 2015 he started producing his self as a recording artist and as such his first radio single was "Grow Mi Hair". He shot quite a few music videos such as " Gone up", "Money Where You Gone", "Wi Nuh Inna Weh Dem Inna", "In These Times" and then "Work Hard". On January 1, 2018 he released his first album entitled "Up An Active" which have 12 tracks. The album was produced by One Nation Music/Japka Productions a producer from Israel. He have been working with quite a few producers across the world such as Mink Productions from Austria, Nature One from Ghana, Dub Links from the UK and Fada Romie from Jamaica just to name a few. Young Garvey is a positive and uplifting artist who sings music to uplift and change the world in a positive way. He is now happy with where his career is going as his fan base is growing all over the world everyday. GARNET SMITH JR.

Picture
Ready To Take The Music Industry By StormFrom reggae royalty rises singing sensation Garnet Smith Jr , son and namesake of the legendary reggae artist Garnet Silk. Exposed to the world of music since his birth on April 3 in Mandeville, Jamaica, Garnet Jr. is a true musical artisan and today continues to walk the path of a musical legacy that is unparalleled and is, in fact, his birthright.
Garnet Jr. fatefully entered the rhythmic realm with his first professional recording in a studio at the tender age of 13, after receiving much encouragement from family and friends to sing for years. Family friend and producer Lloyd "Pecus" Anderson recorded his first track, "Jah A Guide." The song was never officially released as a single but granted Garnet Jr. invaluable recording experience, along with his first taste of lyrical liberation.
Maturing over the years into a seasoned singer and songwriter, Garnet Jr. makes music that flows from his soul. His lyrics showcase intelligence, wit and charm, as he shares a relatable narrative of pursuing his dreams, along with his everyday life experiences. His musical styling is a fusion of hip-hop, R&B and reggae, and is greatly influenced by his father, as well as other reggae luminaries such as Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, Jah Cure and I-Wayne, and also the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson; they have all captured the ears of this auspicious artist, and thus, contribute to his genre-bending sound.Garnet Jr. and his brother Eon "Duce Califa" Smithare currently working together under the Blu Rok Music label, which emerged from a rap collective that was created during Duce Califa's high school years. The imprint comprises of a number of other young talents who are pooling their skills to become a collaborative force to be reckoned with in music.
With his catalog produced at Blu Rok Music, Garnet Jr.'s first single "Condolences" is a hip-hop, R&B and reggae hybrid in which the connection to his artistry, especially through his delivery, is evident. His other singles "We Can Par"and "Call It Quits"are Dancehall fused with R&B, and he strikes a chord on both sides of the gender aisle with these catchy, romantic odes. He also teams up with Duce Califaand Sugar Black of Black Judah, who was incidentally a friend of the late Garnet Silk, for a heartfelt collaboration called "Tired Of Running."The song contains a line from one of Garnet Silk's tracks and pays tribute to him. Music videos for"Condolences" and "Tired Of Running" were recently produced on location in Jamaica, as Garnet Jr. melodiously storms his way into the music world.
As he embarks on this inevitable musical journey and casts the stones for his own legacy, Garnet Jr. also intends to study Business Administration and finesse the business skills needed to carve a niche for his gifted talents in today's competitive music industry. His quest is nourished by unbridled support from his mother Novlyn Banton, who has every confidence in her son's success, in music and beyond.
Realizing that his prized pedigree brings enormous responsibility, Garnet Jr. is proving to be a dynamic and talented entertainer, which only compliments and strengthens his father's legacy, through the younger Garnet's relentless work ethic and boundless creativity. Indeed, this heir to the throne is paving his own way and earning his right, with each beat and lyric, to his very own crown.

BEAT BOXER DERVIN LEE aka MIXING LAB

Picture
The thumping bass line is the key anatomical part to Jamaican music. In an age of synthesized music and computer manipulated beats; when you hear live music it blows you away. That’s exactly what happens when Mixing Lab, spews the beats from his magical vocal box. Hailing from Bethel Town, Westmoreland, his delivery is as smooth as the climes of that district, so smooth it will stun you. How can one man play so many instruments ... it’s a rare talent, but one that Dervin Lee possesses.
You don’t find many world class beat boxers who can blow high flight Grammy producers like Sly off his feet. It is an art and gift that no other this side of the world has mastered. He can mix the beats faster than Usain Bolt can do a 100 m dash. He honed his talent from the time ‘him did a wear short pants’ manufacturing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using his mouth, lips, tongue, voice, nasal passage and throat.
Throughout the years from 1998,he has made several appearances on hit shows such as Red Stripe Sumfest “99”, when he was the year’s talent trail winner; but it was in 2001 while performing at an annual Miss Cambridge in St. James that he was discovered by popular dancehall dee- jay, Alozade who was impressed with his astonishing performance. From there a friendship was formed; the itch to ‘touch the road’ bit him, which found Lab heading to the capital of Kingston, where he met and forged a solid friendship with Dj Krush from Krushproofmuzik. That partnership opened the doors through which he was able to work with major acts such as Ninja Man, RDX, Beenie Man, Ward21, I octane, Khago, Patexx, Charly Black, Romaine Virgo, Chris Martin, Konshens, T.O.K, and made performance at the Asylum Night Club, Reggae Camp Fire ,Mi Nah Laugh Comedy Show, Beenie Man Summer Sizzle, IT and Fancy Cat Show ,The Susan Show, RJR Cross Country Invasion, Digicel Road show, Magnum In Mi Cluster Party, Coca Cola High School Tour, KLAS School Tour, Lime Road Show, Curry Festival etc.
He has created huge waves and hummmm among the patrons in the dancehall with his clear and concise imitation of the latest hip hop and dancehall beats. On several occasions taking the spotlight on some major events, one of which being the RED BULL “Soap Box Derby” held recently in St. Anns where again he caught the eye of another media personality Tricia “Sparks” Spence who has since campaigned as his A&R. His recent performance on the RJR SCHOOL tour had critics and fan alike floored by his amazing performance with note-perfect imitations of drum machines and effects.
If you never experienced magic before, be prepared Mixing Lab is about to put you in a tailspin. Welcome, Beat boxer, Dervin Lee. Email:[email protected], www.youtube.com mixing lab human beatbox

FIRMM

Picture
Keisha Reynolds, better known as Firmm, has been captivating audiences with her lyrics and flow since she was a little girl.

It all began when she was approximately 10 years old and attending Craighead Primary School. One of her Aunt, Alicia, would write lyrics and have Firmm and another aunt perform them, so every Friday and Saturday night the ladies would compete to see who knew the most songs. The competition also included random music being played on the radio. Firmm was always victorious in these games and hence developed a love for music. While at school she would perform for her peers and soon garnered a following that would grow over the years. This carried on through high school where she also engaged in concerts happening both on the school grounds as well as in the general community.

Once she attained a secondary education, Firmm went to work, holding down a regular nine to five job. Though she continued to write lyrics and perform for her colleagues She then started Recording Professionally in 2007, she later entered the popular TV Show Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall. After hearing about the show, Firmm decided to enter in the 2012 season to see if this was the break she had been looking for. Her years of experience performing for her family and friends paid off as she was among the top 5 women in the contest and finished in 4th place over all. She dazzled the in studio audience as well as those watching by TV with her entry song, “way with men”, which was recorded for QB Records weeks before she joined the show. Because she was on television her name and image began to grow in the streets and several radio stations started playing her music.

Now that the contest has ended, Firmm’s plans are to remain active in the industry and try to capitalize on the fame she got through the show. She has since recorded several singles for various production houses, some of which are “hold you” for Gourzong Music, “confirm love” and “riding solo” for Hard At Work and Frenz For Real Records. Currently she is busy voicing additional singles with the hopes of dropping a mixed CD in early 2013. She is also getting ready to release a brand new track entitled “my money” which was produced by Red Boom for Frenz For Real Records. As if that wasn’t enough she is also putting things in place as she hopes to shoot the video for the track “riding solo”.

Firmm pulls her creative inspiration from her natural love for music as well as her family and friends. When she is not in the studio or on stage she is busy donating clothes to the homeless and hopes to set up and official foundation one day.

Tajji

About Maurice "Tajji" Cooper
"Turn a negative situation into a positive situation". That is the motto of young aspiring deejay/songwriter TAJJI. His talent was shown at a tender age while attending primary school where he was always called upon by teachers to sing for the class. After passing common entrance early, he took on a task at one of Jamaica's profound and finest schools, Kingston's Excelsior High School. Tajji so called by friends and family members soon found out that this was the battlefield that would help to enhance and encourage his skills. He was often called out of class to clash with school mates or other deejays from the public, in the cafeteria or under a tree where his lyrical dexterity cause all contenders demise would now found a real love for the music. Dunoon Technical High School was his next step where his approach to lyrical battles were the same and sometimes even more aggressive. It was then that the now 16 year old decided he wanted to be a deejay. After years and years of imitating his role model Spragga Benz he started to write his own lyrics and performed for family and friends who from the start always encouraged him. He graduated from Dunoon High School with his mothers’ wish of him passing at least 4 C.X.C subjects so it was time to hit the streets. He was always apart of the Red Square family but not musically. Most of the time he was just chilling listening to music or playing football with friends there. Spragga then saw the determination in him and nurtured it by bringing him around to the studios, stage shows, and video shoots. He recorded his first track a the age of 18 with Briggy Benz and Suga Slick called "More than you" which got a few airplay. Hailing from East Kingston's most popular community Franklin Town also known as "Dunkirk" he got the name Dinero from his mentor and role model Spragga Benz while at a studio recording.

Protoje

Picture
Oje Ken Ollivierre on June 14, 1981 into a musical family. His mother, Lorna Bennett, is an Attorney-at-law and reggae icon, best known for the 1972 hit, 'Breakfast in Bed.' His father, Michael Ollivierre, also known as Lord Have Mercy, is a notably successful athletics coach and former Calypso King in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as well as the University of the West Indies (UWI) campus in Barbados.

Born and raised in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, young Protoje attended the Santa Cruz Preparatory School before moving on to the prestigious Munro College, where he demonstrated more than a marginal interest in music. It was not long before he helped to spearhead the Vendetta Sound System, cooperating with the likes of his cousin, Donovan "Don Corleone" Bennett, who is now a regular chart-topping producer.Protoje was born.

Coming from such a talented family, and especially being exposed to his parents' era of music, it is no surprise that Protoje is rising to prominence in his own time. On his upcoming and very introspective debut album, The Seven Year Itch, he experiments much with dub and his love of 70's and 80's reggae, especially Black Uhuru and Hugh Mundell, is apparent. From silky melodies to hard-hitting lyrical barrages, Protoje recites life as he experiences it, not as he imagines it.

Lyrical Overdose, Volume 1, his first mix tape which hit the streets and the internet in the summer of 2005, was very well received by the public. Featuring the likes of Busy Signal, Looga Man and fellow upcoming act, Eva flow, Protoje delivered stunning punch lines ("da boy yah wid NUFF HAIR nuh have NO FEAR… tru dem cyaa get a bus(s) like dem deh a Half Way Tree and nuh have NO FARE") that put him on the radar of music aficionados overnight. With production by the likes of DJ Karim, Supa Hype and DJ Rush, clearly there were insiders who had their eyes on this young prodigy a long time ago. With his 2008 releases, "Arguments" and "Dread," featuring the local airwaves, 2009 promises to be one of notable significance to Protoje's musical emergence. There is little doubt among critics that he will see remarkable success very soon. Not just a mere musician but a student of music, Protoje's dedication to his craft will place him among history's most prolific artists.
